Gregory is an alumnus of our 2021 ServiceNow training program. This is what he has to say about the course after his first few months at Devoteam.
For 5 or 6 years, I had been using ServiceNow daily, in different corporate structures, logging tickets, creating various templates, running and extracting reports. While I was comfortable in my role and taking a deeper interest in the ServiceNow platform, I was struggling to find a clear development path.
I’d used the platform in multiple environments, all of them offering their own set of advantages and inconveniences. This is what gave me the desire to attempt developing the tool myself via the ServiceNow developers platform.
I then noticed that the companies offering opportunities that were of interest to me were all expecting fully certified programmers with many years of experience until I came across a post from Devoteam on Indeed.
I applied immediately, as the post specifically mentioned that the onboarding process included not only a 2-week training program but also the opportunity to get certified.
During the very streamlined interview process, where I had a relaxed conversation with an HR representative and a Senior Consultant, I was told about the company structure, where everybody is ‘self-managed’, removing the rigidity of the standard corporate structure and giving everybody the chance to better themselves in the domain(s) that they are interested in.
To be perfectly honest, at this point, I was skeptical, as it seemed too good to be true, but I accepted the offer, and I joined the ServiceNow Training program!
As promised, I started right away with a 2-week training course, which provided me with enough information (and more) to pass the CSA exam, we also had the third week of study time in preparation for the exam but also to get a better view of what our day to day job would look like by doing a ‘Lab project’.
After successfully passing the exam by the end of my third week, I got assigned to my first project, where I am being encouraged, and given time, to figure things out, using the knowledge I gained in the training, and available documentation. While I also have the reassurance and support of senior colleagues.
Now into my third month at the company, I’m working and learning independently with the guidance of my senior colleagues and mentor without feeling the pressures of any managers or supervisors looking over my shoulder, which allows me to take more responsibility in work while knowing that help is there if needed!
